Checkpoint

Checkpoint is an interactive SMS art project by Secret Soup Company.

Participants encounter physical NFC-tagged objects or stickers in the real world. Tapping one opens the participant's SMS app with a pre-addressed, prefilled message to the Checkpoint phone number. The participant must manually press Send to begin.

After opting in, participants may receive conversational replies and occasional continuation or check-in messages related to the project. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

How opt-in works

  1. A participant encounters a Checkpoint sticker or object in person.
  2. The attached card or signage identifies the program as Checkpoint by Secret Soup Company and displays the SMS disclosure.
  3. The participant taps the NFC sticker, which opens a prefilled text message in the participant's native SMS app.
  4. The participant chooses whether to press Send.
  5. No messages are sent to the participant unless the participant sends the first text.
